RooibosThis herbal tea, native to Africa, is also known as Red Bush tea. It is drunk throughout the world. Within its very orange color lies beta carotene, many minerals (iron, potassium, calcium, copper, zinc, magnesium, fluoride, manganese and sodium), antioxidants and vitamin C.
Rooibos (pronounced 'roy-bus') is a caffeine-free herbal tea. It can be brewed hot or cold or infused with other teas or herbs for a most inspiring drink. It is a naturally pure herbal tea with no unnatural ingredients, pesticides, preservatives or additives.
Per a recent study by the University of Kumanota, Japan, rooibos contains high levels of SOD (Sodium Oxide Dismatase), a very powerful antioxidant. It contains more of this than even green tea!
Its medicinal properties include its use to treat clinical ailments such as nervous tension, colic, stomach and digestive problems, allergies, insomnia, diaper rash (externally), skin irritations (externally) and more.
Brew as you would any herbal tea - wash out your cup or pot. Bring fresh water to a rolling boil. Measure 1 tsp herbs per cup and infuse with hot water for 5 minutes or longer to release more antioxidant properties and depending on desired strength. Sip and enjoy this healthful beverage. It is also excellent iced!
